How To Keep your Pets & Kids Entertained Together Over the Summer with Pets & Friends.

School’s out for summer! As the UK breaks up for the summer holidays, your dogs usually tranquil, daily routine is about to get turned upside down. So, with both the kids and pets at home getting in each other’s way, we’ve put together some handy tips on how to make sure your household can live harmoniously over the next few weeks.

Create Your Pet a Safe Space

If your dog usually has the run of the house whilst you’re out, the newfound chaos could cause anxiety and upset as their territory becomes smaller. Setting up a safe space for your pet in a quiet, cool area of the house allows your pet to be able to get away from it all and relax/sleep during the day. Pop down their bed with some fresh water, plus some of their favourite toys to play with out of the way of the hustle and bustle.

Doggy Play Dates

Who says play dates are just for the kids? Of your dog gets along with other pooches, get everyone to meet up outdoors for the ultimate summer fun day! Take along some multi-tasking dog toys such as ropes/pull toys so the kids and dogs can play together, as well as some much-deserved treats so your dog isn’t left out when the ice cream van comes along. You could even get the kids involved in dog training!

Puzzle/Slow Feeders

Out all day? Slow feeders and puzzles are a great way to keep your pets mentally stimulated when you’re out of the house. Lickimats or Kong toys can be filled with treats, so your pets get a reward once their time has been occupied. Long lasting dog chews such as YAKERS and Earth Animal are also great boredom busters.

Walkies!

The best way to blow off steam for your kids, they can explore the outdoors whilst your dog gets their daily exercise. From trips to the local park to miles of woodland, however you choose to explore the great outdoors with your dog, your kids will love getting involved too!
